Crystalline polyethylene terephthalate (abbreviated as CPET) is an economical alternative to aluminum discs. Customers can place the CPET tray directly from the refrigerator into the oven. The operating temperature of this plastic is -20℃-220℃. In addition, CPET can also be two-color molding, more popular in the market.

Crystalline polyethylene terephthalate (abbreviated as CPET) is an economical alternative to aluminum discs. FerchPlastA/S has been manufacturing plastic packaging from CPET since 1986 and is a particularly widespread product in the UK. FerchPlast materials specialist Thomas Lynggaard explains: "The UK is a big market for ready meals and CPET trays are a widely used package" because consumers can put CPET trays straight from the fridge into the oven. The operating temperature of this plastic is -20℃ -220 ℃.
Flexibility and strength
CEPT has many more advantages. Aluminum discs are prone to deformation, but CPET discs return to their original shape after being subjected to impact. In addition, aluminum discs do not have the same high design freedom as CPET discs because the material stability is too poor to be used in multi-cavity discs.
Thomas Lynggaard said: "CPET is extremely flexible because the material is so formable that multi-cavity discs can be designed. It is beneficial if the dish is designed to contain fast food with meat and vegetables, as the quality of the vegetables will be improved by storing them in a separate chamber."
CPET plates can also be manufactured in two colours. This makes the product more aesthetically pleasing compared to traditional aluminum plates, while color printing and logos are optional to differentiate the product on store shelves. In the UK fast food market, two-colour CPET plates are already a direct way for food producers to increase sales.
