    Award winning cardiac catheter packaging
Prent's 6-foot-long cardiac catheter packaging won a gold award at the 2015 DuPont Packaging Awards.
"This packaging system combines materials with end-user oriented functionality, making packaging a value-added product throughout the treatment process and establishing a new frontier," said David Clarke, Head of packaging engineering, Medtronic Vascular Galway LTD.
He said: "Prent has a highly qualified design team that can implement the requirements of the customer. They are consumer-focused and use advanced equipment."

       Creative lockable swivel
The most innovative device for packaging is a lockable swivel that allows the 68" tray to be easily transformed into a 34" U-shaped structure for the operating room. The package is transported in a longer straight structure.
One judge praised: "This is very remarkable in the field of packaging. This is a precision engineered product for demanding applications."
The judge continued: "With this configuration, the catheter can be bent 180 degrees without having to be removed from the packaging, which was a requirement for this application. This ensures sterility from packaging to removal to final application."

Prent's new Medtronic EnVeo R packaging is no longer simply viewed as a package to be discarded, but is now an integral part of the instrument preparation process.
The judges particularly appreciated the solution's "error-proof design" integration of materials to help prevent medical personnel from making mistakes.
Now, a single operator can take full control of the medical device, reducing operating room preparation time by 50%.     In addition, a reflective sheet strip is included in the package's integrated loading bath to provide a 360-degree view of the valve and all connection points, which increases confidence and operational comfort during catheter precision valve assembly.
