Food is not necessarily fresh, smoked or frozen - sometimes it is alive and can move around! When it comes to live insects as feed for reptiles, there are special requirements for the packaging containers.
Insect packaging box
The British company Monkfield Nutrition has some special requirements for the Faerch plastic trays it purchases. In fact, the contents of the plastic trays are alive! Monkfield Nutrition raises crickets, grasshoppers and other insects, which are then sold alive in plastic containers as food for reptiles. This requires the plastic trays to have special quality - otherwise the insects inside would escape. Some insects also have the habit of gnawing at the packaging. After 15 years of cooperation, Monkfield Nutrition continues to choose Farch Plast as its supplier of insect packaging containers. The plastic trays used for reptile feed are manufactured in Farch Plast's Danish factory, and Monkfield Nutrition itself is responsible for punching holes in the trays before packaging the live insects.
Joe Wise, the president of Monkfield Nutrition, explained: "We rarely enter into long-term contracts with suppliers, but this time we made an exception. We tested several competing products, and there is no doubt that Farch Plast's containers are the best in the market in terms of quality, durability and value for money. In fact, when we were trying out other containers, customers complained and asked us to go back to using Farch Plast's trays. These trays are not easy to break, have good ventilation, and the edges of the lids are smooth, fitting tightly when closed to prevent live packaged insects from escaping. Especially crickets have a habit of biting forward at sharp corners, and the packaging box can effectively prevent them from biting through."
Of course, it is not only the customers of Monkfield Nutrition that benefit from this effective packaging tray. Nature and the environment also benefit from Monkfield's choice. These plastic containers are actually made from recycled PET and contain approximately 50% recycled materials.
