Serplastex, a Peruvian company dedicated to the innovative design and manufacturing of commercial chocolate molding trays, has recently selected Eastman's Tritan to help meet the growing demand for high-quality products in the chocolate industry.
Leandro White, a sales representative for Eastman Specialty Plastics' LAR, explains: "Tritan is an innovative transparent plastic that is free of BPA and BPS and extremely durable. It has excellent impact resistance and heat resistance, so molds can be filled with hot or cold liquids without suffering from thermal shock, deformation or cracking." Molds made from Tritan have outstanding chemical resistance, which also helps ensure that the molds produced by Serplastex can withstand hundreds of industrial or manual washes without cracking, contamination or loss of strength. The high transparency and long-lasting smooth surface guarantee high-quality chocolate, giving it an exquisite appearance and fine details.
Paolo Marini, general manager of Serplastex, comments: "Serplastex switched to Tritan because it is a plastic with excellent impact resistance, heat resistance and wash resistance, but the main reason was that Tritan is BPA-free. This helps us ensure that we provide the best products for the chocolate industry in Peru and other regions."
New Choice: Tritan
Serplastex offers a variety of general-purpose pallets and also provides innovative pallets with customized shapes, volumes, and labels to meet the personalized needs of chocolate. Previously, Serplastex produced pallets from polycarbonate, but about a year ago, it switched to Tritan because this material is free of bisphenol A (BPA) and BPS. This decision was made in response to Peru's 2012 ban on the use of polycarbonate and BPA in the production of baby bottles. In 2017, the country released information related to other products containing BPA, including medical devices and food contact products.
In this context, Serplastex decided to manufacture pallets from Tritan to take the lead in the industry. Tritan not only is free of BPA but also has extremely high transparency, durability, and processing advantages, which can help chocolate manufacturers provide the highest quality and healthiest chocolate.
