FarchPlast A/S has launched its "Modular Packaging" series of lightweight, stackable containers. These attractive and powerful packaging solutions are specifically developed for airline meal trays and offer significant cost, environmental, handling and design advantages. While meeting the weight and space restrictions of aircraft, this packaging is made from PET or rPET materials that can be recycled and reused for food contact.
      Convenient modular packaging
FarchPlast A/S is a leading manufacturer in the field of plastic packaging for the European food industry. The company has recently launched its "modular packaging" series of lightweight, stackable containers. These packaging solutions have been specifically developed for airline meal trays and can be produced from APET (amorphous polyethylene terephthalate) or CPET (crystalline polyethylene terephthalate). They offer significant cost, environmental, handling, and design advantages. Additionally, they comply with strict onboard weight and space constraints.
FarchPlast's high-quality "modular packaging" series of food containers are custom-made to fit perfectly into drawers, trolleys and ovens according to carefully researched standard sizes, optimizing onboard storage and providing an economical and stable alternative to aluminium packaging solutions. If necessary, the trays can be easily customized to suit various applications, including appetizers, main courses, desserts, salads and snacks, as well as different materials, colors, shapes and textures to reflect the airline's corporate image.

       Innovative, space-saving stacking design
One of the main differences of FarchPlast's "modular packaging" for the aviation industry is its innovative, space-saving stacking design. Combined with detachable lids (which can be conveniently stored), it helps maximize the use of space on the airline food trays and gives a function to the lids that are often redundant when in use. Thus, passengers benefit from less crowded trays and a better view of their meals.

Furthermore, the multi-purpose stacking concept means that a small number of containers can cover the entire onboard meal service, including breakfast, appetizers, hot dishes/main courses, desserts and snacks, as well as short, medium or long-haul flights.
FarchPlast's high-transparency APET packaging is suitable for cold food with a temperature range of -40℃ to +70℃, while CPET trays can be used in a temperature range of -20℃ to +220℃ and offer many other advantages for the airline catering industry. Unlike aluminum, food packaged in CPET containers can be inspected by food industry metal detection equipment and have excellent sealing performance to eliminate leakage and ensure product integrity. They are suitable for freezing and pasteurization, are not prone to denting, can maintain their shape for easy handling and passenger safety, and have high impact resistance.
With this uniform design, CPET containers can be easily removed, thus enabling the food manufacturing process to be automated more economically. In line with FerchPlast's environmental commitment, the "Modular Packaging" series is produced from PCR (post-consumer recycled) materials and complies with all EU and FDA food contact regulations. FerchPlast's production of food trays from post-consumer recycled PET or rPET is a closed-loop process, or a cradle-to-cradle process. Food-grade rPET flakes are purchased from European plastic recycling companies and further cleaned, and the extrusion and thermoforming processes are carefully controlled in its seven advanced manufacturing plants in Europe to ensure maximum use of recycled materials.
